Wisdom of the True Believers

Wisdom of the True Believers is a collection of lessons from one of the many dark periods in the adoption and public interest in blockchain technology. This interactive photography collection asks the viewer to choose their perspective; the ideal or the context. We are not blind idealists focused only on purity, nor should we be eternally looking to the horizon without reference to what we believe in.

To create this, the Freedom to Transact meme was printed onto business cards and carried through airports and along coastlines into the landscapes of Australia and New Zealand. Each photograph has two points of focus, made with Transient Labs' Juno technology, so the viewer chooses between the card in the hand and the world behind it: the goal or the ideal, what is close or what lies in the distance. The card at close focus deliberately wears the marks of its journey in pockets and bags. No ideal escapes its first contact with the world untouched.

The images keep their lessons to themselves, but each one stands for something learned the hard way during the years when the NFT community was working out what it actually believed. The title carries the only instruction, which is that to be a true believer you have to still be here.
