Street photographs made while scouting locations for Memes Outside. These photographs were never minted and never exhibited. They were fed into early AI models without prompts, meaning the models were asked to expand the frame without instruction.
What grew around each photograph revealed what these models imagined the world to be: their hallucinated histories, their ambient assumptions about place and possibility. The hand appears again in the final works, holding a print of the model's vision against the original street, the way historians hold old photographs against the cities those streets became. Each image lists the model and version used to create it.
